Do you charge tax on products you sell outside Canada?

Updated over 3 months ago

Rugged Books operates fulfillment locations across Canada and the United States, enabling fast and reliable delivery for customers worldwide. Our two main facilities located in Ontario, Canada, and Michigan, USA serve as the centers for refurbishing, testing, certification, and order fulfillment. This binational infrastructure ensures shorter shipping times, fewer delays, and a smoother purchasing experience for both domestic and international clients.

For Canadian customers, standard Canadian taxes (GST/HST) apply based on the province of delivery when orders ship from our Ontario facility.

For U.S. customers, orders fulfilled from our Michigan facility are subject to state and local sales taxes, as required by U.S. regulations. Shipping from within the United States also eliminates customs delays and additional import fees.

For international customers, including Europe, orders shipped from Canada are not subject to Canadian taxes. However, your country’s customs authorities may apply VAT, import duties, or other taxes upon arrival. In some cases, the freight carrier (such as UPS or DHL) may also charge brokerage or processing fees for handling customs clearance. These charges are determined by the destination country and are the responsibility of the recipient.

By offering transparent tax and duty information along with efficient cross-border fulfillment, Rugged Books ensures that customers everywhere receive a trusted, predictable, and hassle-free buying experience.
